Wow, I am really enjoying this!
Good news! I finished "The Confident Woman" today. Excellent, excellent book. I spent some time reading another book that I'm already part-way through called "Sister Freaks, Stories of Women Who Gave Up Everything for God". It's also an incredible book. For example:
"Teach us, good Lord, to serve Thee as Thou deservest; to give and not to count the cost; to fight and not to heed the wounds; to toil and not to seek for rest; to labor and not to ask for any reward save that of knowing that we do Thy will, O Lord our God" -Amy Carmichael.
This book is showing me that throughout history and into today's world, there are women who lived lives of reckless abandonment to Jesus Christ. Women who have grown up in Islamic cultures, who are beaten, abused, raped, tortured, brainwashed into giving up Christianity, and resisted. Women who died, following Gods will for their lives. Women who deserve to be honored and duplicated. It's incredible.... it's inspiring... it's challenging! The Lord is so faithful in guiding me to books that encourage and uplift me :)
And on a not so spiritual note, my parents are at the Tigers game! How cool is that? At like 3:00 this afternoon they just hopped in the car, headed for Detroit, looked for some tickets to buy on the street and found some. I have the coolest family :)
